Robert Leatherbarrow
Vesta

Vesta is the first piece in a new series that continues Leatherbarrow's exploration of textures using glass powders. Textures are fundamental in understanding history and evolution. Blends of powders and closely monitored multiple firings were required to create the variations and depth of colour, and the delicate surface textures. These variations cause the piece to change in response to lighting conditions. Viewing becomes a matter of perspective.

Kiln formed glass. Clear sheet glass covered with layers of varicoloured and textured powder. Five firings in kiln including full-fusing, tack-fusing and slumping.
